Material Use and Duplication Information
There is no charge for using the materials at the Center for Oral and Public History or for most reference services.
Circulation: At this time, none of the materials held by the Center for Oral and Public History circulate. However, a limited number of oral histories are available through Inter-Library Loan at Pollak Library, California State University, Fullerton. Please check their online catalog for specific oral history transcripts. CSUF Pollak Library.
Duplication: The Center for Oral and Public History provides a variety of duplication services but reserves the right to restrict reproduction of materials due to condition, size, copyright, or donor requirements. Duplication options include photocopy; color photocopy; duplication of sound recordings; and digitized copies of photographs and documents.
The Center for Oral and Public History imposes a small fee for duplication of materials to recover costs. The following is the rate structure for duplication services:
- Analog Audio Cassettes: $10.00 per tape - Compact Discs (CD-R): $20.00 per disc - Photographic Materials: Price varies according to format
- Digital Copies Price varies according to item - Individual Photocopies: $ .50 per copy. After 100 copies, $ .25 per copy.
Students with student ID: $ .25 per copy
- Transcripts: Prices vary based on individual oral history transcripts
Please note, duplication charges solely recoup the cost for providing reproduction services and do not include licensing fees for the commercial reproduction or commercial use of materials from the Center for Oral and Public History collection.
A fee of $5.00 is added to duplication requests initiated by phone, FAX, e-mail, or regular mail.
Copyright: The copyright law of the United States governs the making of photocopies and other reproductions of copyrighted materials. Under certain conditions specified in the law, copies may be provided for individual researchers' private study. The copies are provided for the individual's personal use and may not be further reproduced, published, broadcast, displayed, offered for sale, transferred to another individual or deposited in another institution without written permission from the Center for Oral and Public History and/or the copyright holder.
In certain cases, the Center for Oral and Public History does not own the copyright to the materials in its collection. Under these circumstances, it cannot give or deny permission to publish or otherwise distribute material in its collections. Transmission or reproduction of protected items beyond what is deemed a fair use of those items under copyright law requires the written permission of the copyright owners. The Center for Oral and Public History will furnish information it has, if any, regarding the owner of copyright and restrictions on use for particular material. It cannot and will not make any warranty or representation, express or implied, oral or
in writing, that a particular use of archival material is not an infringement of any copyright or property right of any third party. It is entirely the responsibility of the requester to determine and ensure that use of material fully complies with copyright law and other possible restrictions on use.
Licensing Permission: to reproduce or use materials owned by the Center for Oral and Public History for any commercial purpose, including, but not limited to, on-line use and presentation, publication in any format, or exhibits, permission must be secured from the Center for Oral and Public History prior to web mounting, publication or exhibition. Licensing fees, where applicable, are calculated separately from reproduction costs. Please contact Stephanie George, Collections Curator, for details or submit application for use. Permission to Publish. The application can then be submitted via regular mail or fax (714) 278-5069. Typical costs are $0.10/word and $40.00/image. Sound recordings: price varies.

Tapes Into Type is
